The kick-off ceremony of The D. H. Chen Foundation – West Kowloon Tea House Student Matinees (the “Program”) was held on Feb 20, 2019 at Xiqu Centre. Joined by more than 150 students and teachers, Mr. Cheung Wai Hing and Mr. Paul Lam (Trustees), Mr. Alan Chow (CEO) and Mr. Louis Yu (Executive Director, Performing Arts of West Kowloon Cultural District Authority) attended the ceremony celebrating the launch of Xiqu Centre’s inaugural educational program in performing arts. In his remarks, Mr. Cheung expressed his gratitude to the Authority for this valuable partnership opportunity and the creative teams who had put together such an innovative and enjoyable learning program for secondary school students.
Apart from the narrated performances presented by the Tea House Rising Stars Troupe and interactive discussions, students also took part in a guided tour of the Xiqu Centre to learn about the architectural and design features of the new venue and fun facts about the history and art of xiqu.
