Our younger generation has been facing unprecedented stress and anxiety in this unsettled world, especially in the past few years.
Driven by the mission of building a compassionate society and promoting compassion-based values, The D. H. Chen Foundation (the “Foundation”) has partnered with The University of Hong Kong (“HKU”) to establish a student residential college at the Jockey Club Student Village IV in Wong Chuk Hang.
The College, named D. H. Chen College (陳廷驊學院), would be built upon compassion-based values and philosophy rooted in Buddhism, offering a mindful living and learning environment for the young talents to explore and experience values of gratitude, trust, selflessness, peace and mindfulness.
With the strategically selected location, the College incorporates the dedicated meditation room and outdoor garden that provide serene zen space for indoor and outdoor mindfulness activities. Students from all background, whether religious or not, can embrace and appreciate the essence of compassion-based values in this environment, fostering a healthy development for the young talents with both academic pursuit and personal growth during their four-year journey in HKU.
The College, scheduled to open in September 2023, will be home for 300 local and international undergraduate students every year. The Foundation hopes it will become a platform for these young talents to build resilience and experience inner peace to maintain their mental wellness, despite the challenges around them.
