Bringing Peace Through Parenting in a Self-Sustainable Manner

Since 2018, The D. H. Chen Foundation has partnered with EDiversity, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering parents to foster empathy, respect, and understanding in their interactions with children, to implement Parenting for a Peaceful World (PFPW). PFPW is a program eponymous to and based on the book by Australian psychologist Robin Grille, aiming to raise awareness of children’s developmental and emotional needs. Drawing from the parenting experiences of EDiversity staff and volunteers, PFPW has received positive feedback for healing parents’ emotional challenges and enhancing parenting experiences thus benefitting their children.

After a 2-year partnership, both the Foundation and EDiversity recognized the significant impact of PFPW in improving parent-child relationships and promoting healthy childhoods. With a shared goal of reaching a wider audience, the second phase of their partnership focused on creating diverse learning materials for various learning journeys. This included a mix of online courses, e-handbooks, monthly lectures, small tutorial groups, and parent support groups, catering to parents and teachers from various backgrounds.

This partnership has now entered its third phase, shifting from traditional program support to building internal organizational capacity. Key areas of focus include enhancing marketing exposure and strengthening self-financing potential to ensure sustainable growth.

  • Parents practising self-care, an essential aspect of connecting with their children, in the PFPW membership program

  • PFPW parent members enjoying interactive activities that strengthen parent-child connection

  • PFPW organizing both online and offline learning activities for their community members to connect and exchange on parenting

This 2-year partnership of Phase 3 provides both financial and knowledge-based support, tailored to the team’s core business development needs. Efforts include online and offline program promotion, along with the launch of a new membership system. The overarching aim is to cultivate a thriving parenting community rich in best practices and peer support, aligning perfectly with the mission of PFPW. The Program is also developing self-financing capabilities to bolster its long-term strategic direction.

Driving financial returns and creating meaningful social impact can coexist. By leveraging marketing expertise and executing a solid business plan, the Program aims to engage even more like-minded parents who can benefit from its services. With these efforts, the Foundation believes that PFPW will continue to grow and maximize its positive societal impact.

More info of the Program is available on their website or their Facebook page.
