Impact Showcase – Fuelling Collaboration Through Radiating Trust

In 2024, The D. H. Chen Foundation, in collaboration with Chow Tai Fook Charity Foundation, ReThink Foundation, and The Hong Kong Club Foundation, initiated Project Fire, an unprecedented effort to empower Hong Kong’s social good sector towards a sustainable and collaborative future. This shared journey has transformed the relationship between nonprofits and funders into a more equitable and collaborative partnership.

The four funders, together with 16 small nonprofits and four Project Fuel Alumni Fellows as Peer Facilitators formed a “24-as-1” community, and embarked on a journey of trust, openness, and co-creation in an eight-month Fellowship Programme from September 2024 to April 2025. Together, we experienced over 40 hours of co-learning sessions covering self-care and self-management, cultivating a trusting space for dialogues on organisational development and fostering genuine peer support.

Reflecting our collaborative efforts, we hope this Impact Showcase will provide meaningful insights and enhance future developments in the sector, particularly in the following missions we have gone through:

Mission 1: Driving transformations in nonprofit-funder relationships
By co-developing common ground where funders and nonprofits build trust and support each other, we form a trust-based, close-knit community, transcending the labels of “funders” and “grantees”.

Mission 2: Fostering openness and collaborations among organisations
By sharing knowledge, resources, and the innerworkings of our organisations, we are eager to turn intentions to collaborate into tangible, sector-advancing actions.

Mission 3: Enhancing organisational development for sustainable growth
Through co-learning focused on pressing organisational-development challenges and the skills we most want to develop, we share, listen and learn about the significance of long-term, sustainable organisational growth.

Mission 4: Cultivating individual self-care and staff wellbeing at the organisational level
We nurture inner wellbeing and treat self-care and self-management as collective, systemic priorities at both organisational and sectoral levels.

The opportunities to share resources and challenges with each other are precious as we recognise our roles to play as changemakers. However, this is just the beginning – we invite you to explore this Impact Showcase, comprising a 13-minute Impact Video and Programme Highlights, to learn more about this journey, and continue to collaborate with each other and the wider impact sector on how we can play a part in the future.
