Achievements of first cohort of The D. H. Chen Foundation Scholars celebrated at Scholarship Inauguration Dinner & Award Ceremony

    To celebrate the establishment of The D. H. Chen Foundation Scholarship and recognize the achievements of the first cohort of 22 Scholars, the Foundation held the Inauguration Dinner & Award Ceremony on September 19, 2016 at the Hong Kong Bankers Club. The event was attended by over 80 guests including the Trustees of the Foundation, senior representatives of the Scholarship’s partner universities, Mentors, Scholars and their families, and other guests.

    Mr. Alan Chow, Executive Director of the Foundation, kicked off the event with his Opening Remarks. He congratulated the Scholars for their outstanding achievements and reminded them it is their responsibility, obligation and duty to give back to the community. He urged them to make good use of their talents to effect positive and sustainable change. After the Opening Remarks, Ms. Vivien Chen Wai Wai, Chairman of the Foundation, officiated the award ceremony and presented the well-earned recognitions to the 22 Scholars.

    At the inaugural dinner, Ms. Karen Cheung, Trustee of the Foundation, gave her vote of thanks and invited Mr. Ambrose Ho, S.C. to give his keynote speech entitled Services and Me. Mr. Ho’s sharing of his service experiences offered much insight and inspiration to the Scholars and the other guests in the realm of community engagement.

    The Scholars all expressed that they looked forward to fostering their personal, professional and social aspirations through the wide array of distinctive Scholarship features, including mentorship, social service exposure and Scholars’ network. The Foundation has high expectations of our Scholars and sincerely hopes that they will grow into committed future leaders who will combine their intellect, talents and compassion to drive substantial social good in the community.
