MIT HealthHACK 2021 Met with Great Enthusiasm

The D. H. Chen Foundation is delighted to be the growth partner and funder of the HealthHACK 2021, hosted by MIT Node and MIT Hacking Medicine on 29 May, 2021. Over 150 participants and 22 teams were formed, with the majority were students and around 40% were professionals. 17 mentors from different backgrounds including med-tech, research, healthcare, design and philanthropy, have offered the participants valuable input in the ideation and development phase.

To provide participants with more understanding of the needs and challenges faced by older adults and their families living in the community, the Foundation has invited members of the Weaving of Wellness, another partnership with HKSKH Tseung Kwan O Aged Care Complex on Time Bank model, to share their first-hand experience in terms of aging-in-place and caregiver support.

The Foundation and MIT Innovation Node were also very glad to have Dr. Vivian Lou, Director of Sau Po Centre on Ageing at The University of Hong Kong and Mr. Lawrence Lui, Co-founder of Longevity Design as keynote speakers to talk about their experience and expertise from an academic and social enterprise perspective.

Please check out the six winning ideas below, and the teams will start their next phase of project development:
