This year in June, 12 innovative finalist projects were selected on the Pitch Day of Youth ImpACT Award (“YIAA”), a program co-presented by The D. H. Chen Foundation and The Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong (“BGCA”) since 2016 to offer experiential learning workshops for secondary school students on tackling social problems with human-centered design and social innovation.
Striving to solve social issues relating to aging population, disadvantaged children, people with disabilities and sustainability, the projects presented on the Pitch Day offered innovative solutions proposed by secondary school students. Their creative ideas impressed the judging panels which comprised of representatives from the Foundation, BGCA, Hong Kong Council of Social Services, NGOs partners and service users. Congratulations to all teams which have put in an incredible amount of time and efforts into their projects and pitches!
The 12 finalist teams will proceed to the next phase and build service prototypes for testing over the summer. More information about the finalist projects are available here.
The Foundation would also like to thank everyone who has voted for the 300 creative service ideas submitted by over 1,100 secondary school students. Please stay tuned for updates about YIAA here and on their official website.
