Second Cohort of The D. H. Chen Foundation Scholars Honored at Scholarship Award Dinner 2017

The D. H. Chen Foundation Scholarship Award Dinner 2017 was held on September 15, 2017 at the Aberdeen Marina Club. The event was attended by around 120 guests including the Heads of the Scholarship’s partner universities, representatives from academia and partner NGOs, Mentors, Trustees, Scholars and their families.

Mr. Alan Chow, Executive Director of the Foundation, welcomed attending guests with his Opening Remarks. He applauded the first cohort of Scholars for their continuous outstanding scholastic achievements and their active engagement with the Foundation and the community. He congratulated the second cohort of Scholars on their achievements, sharing his hope that they will show gratitude to the support from their family, university and society and pay the benevolence forward. After the Opening Remarks, Ms. Vivien Chen Wai Wai, Chairman of the Foundation, officiated the ceremony and presented the well-earned recognitions to the 18 incoming Scholars.

Ms. Karen Cheung, Trustee of the Foundation, gave her vote of thanks during the Dinner. In light of the recent typhoons that hit the region that had caused property damage and loss of lives, Ms. Cheung had a message for our Scholars. She emphasized on the importance of being vigilant in today’s ever-changing world, urging Scholars to be alert in peaceful times and strive to be equipped in the face of potential challenges. She then invited Professor Tsui Lap Chee to give his keynote speech entitled Innovation in Future Leadership. Professor Tsui’s sharing of his experience in bringing innovation in whatever leadership roles he plays was most enlightening.

The second cohort of Scholars expressed that they were all very eager to start the Scholarship journey with their Mentors and looked forward to widening their exposure through the Foundation’s exclusive opportunities and further fostering their social aspirations.

In investing in Hong Kong’s brightest and most socially committed young people, the Foundation hopes that our Scholars will be the influencers and shapers of Hong Kong’s tomorrow who will bring profound impact on our communities. For more information about the Scholarship, please visit www.dhcfscholarship.com
