On May 30, a delegation from The D. H. Chen Foundation (“the Foundation”) visited Zhejiang University (“the ZJU”) in Hangzhou for the establishment of the D. H. Chen School of Universal Health, Zhejiang University (“the School”), a collaboration since 2020.

The delegation attended the Foundation Laying Ceremony of the School, after having a tour of the University History Museum, and the Science and Technology Museum at the ZJU. The delegates of the Foundation were very honored to be greeted by Dr. Ren Shaobo, Secretary of the Communist Party Committee of the ZJU, Professor Du Jiangfeng, President of the ZJU and many other senior management team members of the university.

A tour of the ZJU’s Faculty of Medicine and an exchange session by the School’s academic staff and students, as well as the Foundation, were also arranged, offering all parties a deeper understanding of the curriculum and learning of the 40 postgraduate students in two cohorts, and the impact of the Foundation’s various programs.

The School, targeting to nurture compassionate talents equipped with knowledge of universal health combining the application of big data in the medical arena, is currently housed in the building of the Faculty of Medicine. The D. H. Chen Tower is expected to be ready in 2026 to accommodate the need of the School’s teaching and research.

During the visit, Ms. Karen Cheung, our Trustee and Chief Strategist, was appointed the Zhejiang University Trustee.
