Mr. Bono Yeung of BGCA announced YIAA 2.0 in the Summit.
Youth ImpACT Award (“YIAA”), a program co-presented by The D. H. Chen Foundation and The Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong (“BGCA”) since 2016, organized a half-day YIAA Education Summit themed “What’s Next in Innovation Education?” in June.
Acclaimed educators from Hong Kong and abroad have shared their expertise and experiences on the implementation of design thinking in social innovation projects, with the aim to broaden the horizon of the youth, educators and schools involved in the program. The three-cycle YIAA, striving to offer local youth the opportunity and platform to learn and tackle some of the most pressing social issues by generating and implementing innovative solutions, had encouraging achievements with over 3,000 students from 196 secondary schools engaged, and more than 900 innovative service ideas incubated to serve the elderly, deprived children and people with disabilities.
During the Summit, announcement of the YIAA 2.0 commencing in September 2019 has also been made. Enrichments in YIAA 2.0 including School Clubs, School Curriculum and Social Coin will offer more opportunities for local young people, teachers and social workers to drive good will through social innovation.
